I grew up near Wing Lake, Mich., where nature of every kind influenced my art work. I’ve been creating and selling art and jewelry since I was a little girl.

At college, I took a mix of art and science courses, earning a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State in 1982.  To this day, I  am a practicing Occupational Therapist. In addition to my medical career, I continued to work in various artistic mediums through the years.

While living in southern Arizona in 1989, I attended the world-famous Tucson Gem & Mineral Show for the first time – and the fantastic world of gems, minerals, fossils, beads and findings became the new focus of my creative energies.

I still attend the Gem Show every year. It’s my major source of fabulous new materials.

My husband, Mike, and I lived in the desert and loved the reptiles there – we even had a couple of pet chameleons who were part of the family. Inspired by the unique lizards and desert life around us, a line of reptile and insects pins evolved, which we still sell to zoos, museums and boutiques.  June’s Jools was born!

Soon, creating all kinds of jewelry became a second career for me. In 2003, I discovered the exciting medium of Precious Metal Clay – PMC – and went on to become a Certified PMC instructor.  Now, in addition to designing and making jewelry, I conduct PMC classes at my studio and venues such as art schools and libraries.

Today, I live in beautiful North Idaho, where my home and studio are on a forested mountainside overlooking Lake Pend Oreille, with a view of many tall peaks.  Our property, which we named “Lizard Ridge,” has a rushing stream, giant cedars and many fruit trees.  I’m an active swimmer, hiker, kayaker, gardener and boater – boredom is not an option in the north woods!  Our family includes a pet snake, Goodyear, and a wonderful, high-energy dog, Niko.

My June’s Jools pavilion can found at many events in the Inland Northwest, and customers are welcome to stop by my Lizard Ridge Studio by appointment. Now I’m on the Internet, ready to meet new friends from all over the world.
